Bayushi Shizume was a Scorpion Clan bushi. While taking a dinner in a teahouse at Toshi Ranbo soon after the Battle of Toshi Ranbo in 1169 he detected the Night Silk Poison scent from the teapot. Shizume took care of a bandit that had attacked a poisoned Komori Shikawa within his chamber, while the assailant tried to steal the Bat blades. Shizume, along with a group of samurai whose blades were also stolen tracked the bandits to an abandoned warehouse and fought to recover them, for a price. The outcome of the fight was not yet known, but it might be assumed that Shizume and his associates won.
