Bentham Road is a housing estate in the Hackney area of London. Planning for the estate started in 1952 and construction began in 1955. It was completed in 1959. The estate was designed by C. G. Weald and Colin St. John Wilson of London County Council Architects Department, who were both inspired by the work of Le Corbusier. The engineer was F. J. Samuely. The entire estate was constructed out of reinforced concrete, one of the first to be so, of which all was cast on site. Soon after construction, it become known as one of the 'beton brut' estates along with Alton West, with each block being 11 storeys tall.
