Reinforced by no less than three New Republic divisions and several dozen planetary turbolasers, the planet's populace was ordered to hold out at all costs. Numerous attempts at running the blockade down the PTR to Coruscant were initiated here and there was a sizeable cache of supplies and weapons in makeshift warehouses. As the weeks wore on, the Empire closed in on and overtook Coruscant, leaving Nak Shimor as the furthest protrusion into Imperial space. This became known as the Nak Shimor Salient.
