Emperor's Shield was an Imperial Navy squadron of elite TIE pilots who served as the escorts to leaders of major Imperial factions, such as Thrawn's Confederacy and the Imperial Remnant. However, they often were sent on special missions for their superiors. The squadron was composed of veteran ace pilots, each of whom had at least 18 kills. Their fighters were unmarked and looked like average ships, to make enemy pilots more paranoid by making them know that any TIE squadron could be them. Though most were pilots, they were formed by Marek Vaiken Stele from former Emperor's Sword pilots (Marek himself was one.) They saw action during the Yuuzhan Vong War and other conflicts. Much later, during the Second Imperial Civil War, they fought for the Fel Empire.
