Tyro is the only son of a Human mother and a Miraluka father. Because of his Miraluka heritage, he was born without eyes. His father abandoned him and his mother shortly before Tyro was born. He never knew his father, so he never knew that he was part Miraluka and always assumed that he was completely human and was simply born blind. His mother knew that Miralukas used the Force to see, but since she wasn't a force user, she couldn't teach him to use the force and instead simply had him fitted with cybernetic eyes. His father then told him that he didn't die, he joined the Sith. He also said that his mother didn't want Tyro to know that his father was a Sith, so she told him that he was dead. Tyro then demanded to know why he should trust him since he abandoned them to join the Sith. His father then told him that he could teach him to see without eyes and that the Sith would make him stronger. Reluctantly, Tyro accepted the offer. At the Sith Academy, Tyro showed immediate potential with the force and was also skilled at lightsaber combat, able to take down several highly trained Sith despite his blindness. Because of this, he was able to become a full-fledged Sith after only a few short years. One day, while Tyro and his father were sparring, he tried to kill his father. His father asked Tyro why he wanted to kill him. Tyro's explaination was that his father had taught him everything he needed to know, so he had no other use for him. He also said that his father deserved it. Tyro then abandoned the Sith. The last trace of him that was left was a note saying that he only joined the Sith to learn how to use Force sight and that the Sith way of life disgusted him. To avoid being found by the Sith, he made his way to Tatooine and joined the Tusken Raiders, using the Force to persuade them to accept him. Living among the Tusken Raiders taught him to fend for himself. One day, Tyro and the Tusken Raiders attempted to attack a harmless looking man who turned out to be a Jedi. The Jedi then noticed that Tyro was a Miraluka and then asked Tyro if he would be his new apprentice. Tyro happily accepted the offer because for the first time in years, he could finally do something to benefit society.
