| - Sergeant Rawq Hahrdpleys was a gruff, intimidating figure in the Republic Army with over thirty years of military service. After years of combat duty in the Republic Army during the Mandalorian Wars, the sergeant became utterly inured to the horrors of combat during a months-long siege in a forest against the Mandaloraians. The experience stripped of him of a number of human emotions, including forgiveness, mercy, and empathy, as allowing such sentiments would have broken him due to the atrocities he had seen and committed in those woods.

Instead, he became single-mindedly military in his thinking, focusing only on how to become a more efficient fighting machine. His superiors recognized his prowess but felt he was too psychologically risk-prone to keep on the front line. They felt he would become a negative influence on other soldiers and decided to place him where he couldn't lead other soldiers into his kind of sociopathic thinking. In typical bureaucratic fashion, he was ordered to take over training at a Republic Combined Arms training facilty, where he was a senior non-commissioned officer in charge of survival training. Rawq Hahrdpleys was disappointed with his new assigment and took out his frustration on new recruits. He also disparaged members of other services whenever they had exchange programs and was particularly critical of the Republic Marines, whom he felt were a bunch of glory hounds bragging about how their bravado and "mad kriffing skills" made up for their lack of everything else. This immediately provoked the ire of a female marine officer named Captain Reyolé whose company was supposed to be training with the army. Hahrdpleys was known for his abrasive, sardonic mannerisms, citing regulations when it suited him and ignoring them when it didn't. His treatment of his recruits was considered brutal, but he justified it by saying it made them better soldiers. He was also known for his clichéd attempts at witticism. None of these traits earned him much regard from his troops, nor did his constant self-promotion. When it came to his section of survival training, Hahrdpleys was verbally abusive to both officers and enlisted personnel, belitling them to boost his own self-esteem and to assert his authority. As he was a highly-decorated war veteran, his superiors were uninterested in disciplining him, though many of his exploits exaggerated. Hahrdpleys also authored a manual on marine procedure which he was extremely proud of and was required reading for his survival training sessions. He also foisted it onto as many of his colleagues as possible.
