  • In 2007 when the Allied States in its Six States form seceded from the United States, the local Republican Parties met, and, as the actual Republican Party's headquarters and top brass were now located in a foreign nation, decided to form a new center-right party. The Conservative Victory Party was established, apposing the also newly created Democratic Liberty Party. In 2010, several top-members of especially the CVP, several of whom held high military positions, staged an overthrow of the government under the name the Confederates. If their plan had succeeded, they planned to form a confederacy and rename the Allied States into the Confederate States of America (ironically not related to the Civil War-era faction). The overthrow, however, was put down. Amnesty was granted to all civilian conspirators, however, some military officials were arrested for engaging in war crimes. Still feeling strong about their goal afterwards, the Conservative Victory Party was officially renamed the Confederate Party. They won their first presidential election in November 2010 and have had majority control of the Senate ever since 2008. In May 2012, after Canada had been an unincorporated territory of the Allied States for months, the six remaining provinces and territories officially merged with the AS and became state-level political divisions. Together with them came several new political parties, representing large chunks of the new population. In an effort to keep its overwhelming majority, the CFP formed the Conservative Alliance with the new Conservative Party, which holds 41 seats on the newly restructured Senate. Upon Canada merging with the Allied States, the Conservative Party wholeheartedly merged with the Progressive Conservative Party.
