Shadow is first encountered during the quest, where it is guarding the Shadow Chamber in the Empyrean Citadel for its master Sliske with its companion Light, whom it hates and describes as a "brainless moron". Shadow is very grumpy and depressed, and after the puzzle is completed, begs you not to leave him there. The mask is upgraded after completion of the Dishonour among Thieves quest. This upgrade gives the mask, when worn, a 1 in 30 chance in combat that a wight ranger will spawn and fight for you. The mask cannot be used with Dreadnips and the wights will not appear in PvP.

abstract
  • Shadow is first encountered during the quest, where it is guarding the Shadow Chamber in the Empyrean Citadel for its master Sliske with its companion Light, whom it hates and describes as a "brainless moron". Shadow is very grumpy and depressed, and after the puzzle is completed, begs you not to leave him there. It is given as a reward after the quest, by Brother Samwell, and it can be worn, be spoken to while in your inventory, and switched to Light. If lost, it can be reclaimed from the Statue of Death in the citadel. Upon reclaiming, it will be removed from your inventory, bank, equipment or even keepsake box if you had one already. If you destroy the mask in its' upgraded form, you can still reclaim it at the Statue of Death, but you will need to re-buy the upgraded from Moia after the Dishonour among Thieves quest. The mask can also be worn in a pocket slot, thus saving space for a helmet being worn. To do this rightclick on the upgraded version of the mask and click Switch. This will give you the option to `Switch to pocket slot`. Returning the mask works vice versa, Selecting the `Switch to mask` option.
