In the short story "Miecz przeznaczenia" in the Miecz przeznaczenia (The Sword of Destiny) collection by Andrzej Sapkowski, Geralt finds him wounded and possibly near death in the forest of Brokilon. Ultimately, the governor lives out his days in Duén Canell, initially as a stud for the dryads, eventually he married Braenn.

Nel racconto "La spada del destino" ("Miecz przeznaczenia"), che fa parte della raccolta con lo stesso nome di Andrzej Sapkowski, Geralt incontra in barone a Brokilon, gravemente ferito. Il barone accompagnava la principessa Ciri nella sua fuga da Verden. Lo strigo convinse le Driadi della foresta a non ucciderlo. Più tardi, Geralt e Ciri lo incontrarono di nuovo nel cuore della foresta, a Duén Canell dove è stato trasportato per essere lo "stallone" da riproduzione delle driadi. Freixenet si ricordò di aver già conosciuto Geralt ad Hamm, dove lo liberò da una terribile maledizione che lo aveva tramutato in un cormorano. Nel racconto "Qualcosa finisce, qualcosa comincia", Freixenet è ospite al matrimonio tra Geralt e Yennefer. Giunge con la moglie Braenn e le cinque figlie: Morenn, Cirilla, Mona, Eithné e Kashka e una sesto figlio in arrivo.

Im Gegenteil: Die Dryaden suchen ihn aus und er hätte mit schlimmen Konsequenzen zu rechnen, wenn er unaufgefordert eine Dryade berührt. Freixenet kennt Geralt bereits. Der Hexer hatte ihn einst von einem Fluch befreit: Er war von einem Mädchen in einen Kormoran verzaubert worden. Den Grund verheimlicht er. Freixenets Schwester Eliza hatte versucht, ihn mit einem Heilmittel aus dem Volksmund (einem Hemd aus Brennesseln) zu heilen, was nicht gelang. Geralt konnte schließlich den Zauber vom Baron nehmen. Das einzige, was Freixenet von seiner Zeit als Kormoran nachbehalten hat, ist sein unbändiger Appetit auf Fisch. Geralt erzählt Freixenet weiterhin, dass aus diesem Vorfall im Volk eine Geschichte gewoben wurde. Ihm wurden dabei sechs Brüder angedichtet, und die Verwünschung verwandelte sie auch nicht in Kormorane, sondern in sieben Raben. Freixenet ist ein Charakter aus der Kurzgeschichte "Das Schwert der Vorsehung". In der Kurzgeschichte "Etwas endet, etwas beginnt" war Freixenet ein Hochzeitsgast als Geralt und Yennefer auf Schloss Rosrog geheiratet haben. Freixenet ist in der realen Welt ein Handelsunternehmen für Wein: Freixenet.

The witcher manages to convince the dryads not to kill Freixenet but is unable to secure his release. Geralt and Ciri do run into the ex-baron of Hamm again and he reminds the witcher of their first meeting, long before Brokilon, back in Hamm. There, Geralt lifted a curse cast by a jilted lover which had turned Freixenet into a cormorant. The baron's sister, Eliza had previously tried unsuccessfully to lift the curse by making him a shirt made of nettles, but to no avail. It took a witcher and a few hundred gold pieces to lift the curse. Geralt took great pleasure in telling him that the tale has spread far and wide, not to mention been embellished. Freixenet has since been given ten brothers and given that cormorants were judged insufficiently romantic, his curse was to be turned into a swan, along with his ten brothers. And, of course, Eliza's shirt succeeds. Ultimately, the governor lives out his days in Duén Canell, initially as a stud for the dryads, eventually he married Braenn. In the short story "Coś się kończy, coś się zaczyna", he is a guest at Geralt and Yennefer's wedding. He arrives with his wife, Braenn, their five daughters, Morenn, Cirilla, Mona, Eithné and Kashka — all red haired, and evidence of a sixth well on the way. Freixenet is apparently confident it will be a son this time, but Braenn intimates that the "son" will be named "Melissa".
