The eating house looking out over Ridge Gardens in Port Caynn was situated only six blocks away from Ladyshearth Lodgings along that side of the ridge. It was "a more elegant place than the Merman's Cave", which could be seen through the better furnishings and the fact that the guards at the entrance were more observant than the guards at the Merman's Cave or the Waterlily not only asking the men for their weapons, but also noticing that Beka and Goodwin were carrying hidden knives with them. This eating house also seems to have been quite popular, considering the first floor was "already packed with diners" when Beka and her friends arrived there.

Big as the place was it had stone buildings for the privies, the women's including seven stalls, each stall curtained off, with a place to wash up after. The privies were situated outside the eating house, hidden from the view of customers by stands of flowering bushes and trees. The eating house also had several entrances. Probably the one to the privies was separate from the main entrance. If so there were at least three doors inside, because Beka used another one to get back inside after using the privies, this one leading to the kitchens. It was visited by Beka, Goodwin and their Port Caynn friends on the evening of September 16, 247 HE. Dale Rowan and Hansevor Remy had booked a room on the second story with a balcony weeks ago to have a good view of the fireworks in the Ridge Gardens at that day. Nestor Haryse and Okha Soyan also joined the group on that evening. Pearl Skinner and some of her guards, including Jurji and Torcall Jupp, also showed up there, because Pearl wanted to remind Beka and Goodwin that they weren't to do Dog work while in "her" city, but also because she had to discuss business with Hanse and Steen.
