Buranian was a designation for certain types of Marlonian pottery. In 2369, Captain Jean-Luc Picard participated in an archaeological dig on Marlonia. He found pottery pieces, which were typical of second century Marlonian cookware, in the tertiary level of the dig. Picard observed the markings on the pieces were similar to early Taguan designs; however, upon closer inspection, he observed they were more intricate and were closer to Buranian than Taguan.
