  • Iain MacLeod joined Coronation Street as a researcher in 2006, becoming a story associate the following year. He has been the Story Editor since Episode 7128 (27th July 2009) and has overseen plots including Jack Duckworth's death, the 50th anniversary tram crash and Carla Connor's rape. He married Script Editor Verity Ellis in 2013. Iain left the programme in 2014 to join Channel 4 soap Hollyoaks as series editor, before being promoted to series producer shortly afterwards. In September 2015, it was announced MacLeod would take over the role of series producer of Emmerdale from Kate Oates, who would subsequently become the new producer of Coronation Street.
