In 1951, Anielewicz was one of the first Jews to be sent off to Pluto, in the Reich program known as the Expulsion. Anielewicz was elected the first President of the Republic of Pluto, ruling in five-year terms until his death in 1960. Anielewicz covertly provided resources to the French Resistance during his terms in office. Anielewicz was succeeded by prominent dissident author Elie Wiesel.
