After refusing to take a test in Classroom Block A, confused and wonders why he is in a classroom taking a test, when he knows he had died without accomplishing anything. Otonashi, now the student body president, comes in and asks him what it is he wants the most currently, to which The Successor responds he wants the courage to face Otonashi. He is told by a satisfied Otonashi, that if he is ever feeling unreasonable hatred, or hesitation, that Otonashi will always be waiting for him in the Student Council Room. When he is later told to sit down and continue with the test by the NPC teacher, he responds by crumpling up the test in frustration.
