| - User can attack targets on astronomical objects (planets, moons, asteroids, etc.) from their orbit rather than from an aircraft, or a platform beyond orbit.
- Orbital Strike was a bombardment by orbiting capital ships. In Star Wars: Battlefront the orbital strike was signaled by a Recon droid. In Battlefront II it was replaced by self-destruct.
- A lethal cannon barrage from planetary orbiting ships, covering a large area. Players that are within the target radius will recieve a warning 1-4 seconds beforehand to escape. If escape isn't an option, finding the shelter before the bombardment can also protect the player, as the orbital strike cannot penetrate obstacles such as buildings and debris. On the mini-map, enemy Orbital Strike zones are indicated by red circles, and friendly strikes are represented by blue circles.
- Instead of ionized beams, the strike uses a kinetic kill vehicle (called an orbital slug, and usually a mixture of cobalt and tungsten) to inflict significant damage in an area. Basically, a giant rod is fired from orbit onto a target. When it impacts, the kinetic energy of the rod releases heat and energy, damaging the target. A warhead would be redundant for such a weapon.
- An Orbital Strike is the act of attacking targets on a planet or moon by the shooting unit in orbit around the object, rather than from an aircraft, or land-based artillery. Orbital Strikes are used in Battlefield 2142.
- Orbital Strike is a support bonus in Crysis 2's and Crysis 3's multiplayer.
