| - The Cincinnati Bengals are an American football franchise in the AFL that operate and play in the city of Cincinnati, Ohio. The Bengals were founded in Cincinnati in 1972 and have won four AFL championships (1988, 1995, 1996 and 1999). The Bengals are owned by Mike Warren and are coached by Ken Dorff. They play at Bengals Stadium in Cincinnati, Ohio, alongside the shore of the Ohio River. The team was once one of the most moribund in the league, putting together ten losing seasons out of eleven and eight straight after their entrance into the league in 1972, posting a 6-5 record in 1980 and not repeating the feat until 1983, Marty Schottenheimer's first season with the team. Since then, the Cincinnati Bengals have been a consistent playoff contender, making the playoffs seven consecutive seasons on two separate occasions from 1985-1991 and 1994-2000, a span during which they won four AFL titles and played for five, giving the Bengals an all-time AFL title game record of 4-1.
