| - Jens Story was a popular and often controversial figure within the Rutanian political scene. In the early 3290s, Story came to national prominence when he launched an effort to expel all illegal immigrants. He soon gained a great following and in 3291 he ran for the Liberal Party's presidential nomination. He secured over a quarter of the vote. In 3301, Prime Minister Jacqui Moir appointed Story to the cabinet as Minister of Justice. He served in that capacity until 3308. Despite serving in the cabinet, he was not a member of Parliament. He was elected to Parliament in 3304. In 3308, he ran against Peter Rein for the leadership. Story made the race much closer than expected; he won 47% of the vote. In 3310, Rein's leadership came under scrutiny. Story proved to be the obvious choice to challenge him. Ultimately he decided against running for the leadership. Instead he ran for the presidential nomination. He led on the first two ballots but was eliminated in the third round after winning just 29% of the vote. Following Rein's resignation in 3311, Story contested the leadership against four other candidates. On the fifth round of voting, Story was declared the leader after winning 50.2% of the vote to Karl Maltzahn's 49.8%. Parliament was dissolved in 3313. The Liberals won nearly 18% of the vote and gained 28 seats. While Story was personally pleased with the result, the other parties agreed that his colorful personality had no place in the cabinet. The opposition parties formed a government without Story and the Liberals. Shortly after the new cabinet was sworn in, Story resigned as leader and as a member of Parliament.
