The temple is located in an area with small mountains and hills, which is surrounded by forest, near the ocean. The temple is affliliated with both Ōkamigakure and Sunagakure. The temple also has a vegetarian cuisine; the vegetarian chef nuns have become extremely creative in imitating meat using prepared wheat gluten known as seitan or wheat mea, soy (such as tofu or tempeh), agar, konyaku and other plant products. The "Buddha's Delight" (羅漢齋. Rakan Itsuki, English TV: The Delight of Buddha) is the temple's speciality. The dish is usually made with at least ten ingredients, although more elaborate versions of eighteen or even thirty-five ingredients may comprise the dish. At this temple, Maya Uchida was sent by her mother to become a priestess. The kunoichi noted that the nuns were very strict when it came to their teachings.
