- James Whitmore, Jr. is an American TV director. His father, actor James Whitmore, was Slug, one of the tap-dancing mafiosi in 1953's Kiss Me Kate, and later the old con, Brooks Hatlen, who can't survive on the outside and hangs himself in The Shawshank Redemption. James Jr.'s extensive credits include (but are not limited to) directing episodes of Quantum Leap, The Pretender, 24, NCIS, Enterprise, and (of course) Buffy the Vampire Slayer. He also directed one episode of Angel ("Reprise").

Whitmore spielte zusammen mit seinem Vater James Whitmore im Juni und Juli 2006 in dem Theaterstück "Tuesdays With Morrie" im Peterborough Players Theater in Peterborough, New Hampshire und er führte Regie bei der Fernseherie "Trio mit vier Fäusten (Riptide)", in dem sein Vater mitspielte.
