abstract
| - Born in 465 1A, she lived in Nargothrond with her father Orodreth under the rule of Finrod Felagund. She was betrothed to Gwindor, who changed her last time to "Faelivrin", which meant "Gleam of the Sun in the pools of Ivrin". When Gwindor was captured in 473 1A of the First Age during the Nírnaeth Arnoediad by Morgoth, but returned in 490 1A, Finduila fell in love with Túrin, son of Húrin. However, Túrin refused her in respect for his friend. Gwindor realized this, and revealed Túrin's name to Finduila and tried to let Túrin fall in love with her since he realized Finduilas loved Túrin instead of him. After Gwindor was slain in the Battle of Tumhalad, Túrin returned to Nargothrond when he was caught up in a trance by the dragon Glaurung who spoke to him of his kin in Hithlum, and therefore he could not hear the cries of Finduila as a party of orcs intended for Angband was dragging her past him. Glaurung's deceit caused Túrin to abandon Finduila and instead went to Hithlum in search for his kin, and by the time he finally went after her. His efforts were too late when she was killed by the orcs.
