Yossel Reisen, Jr. (b, 1915) was the son of Sophie Hamburger and Yossel Reisen, Sr. and the nephew of Flora Hamburger. Reisen was conceived out of wedlock before his father, a United States Army volunteer during the Great War, was sent to the Roanoke Front. After learning of his mother's pregnancy, his father promised to marry her, but was killed in action before the wedding and before the younger Yossel's birth. His comrades frequently joked about his aunt being a Congresswoman.

Many years later, Yossel served in the US Army during the Second Great War. Alongside his friend and comrade Armstrong Grimes, he helped suppress the Mormon uprising in Utah during that war and saw action against Canadian rebels. Following Grimes' wounding, Reisen assumed command of their platoon. His comrades frequently joked about his aunt being a Congresswoman.
