- The Riktis are a race of mysterious, extradimensional beings who invaded Earth to turn mankind into slaves during what became known as the Rikti War. However, their invasion was halted thanks to superheroes of the Vanguard, but at the cost of untold lives. Now a compliment of survivors remain entrenched on Earth in sites of the greatest battlegrounds such as Rome, Kuala Lumpur and Paragon City; and, while certainly outnumbered, still pose a serious threat to everyone that they encounter. While no one knows exactly how many Rikti still remain hidden, some estimates place it at a few thousand, while others suggest ten to twenty times as many.
- The Rikti are one of the main threats to the world at large in the MMO City of Heroes and City of Villains. The Rikti first invaded in an event in 2004 called the Rikti War, an introduction to the world at large for players, where the heroes of Paragon City, fought off the hostile aliens. The Rikti are biologically similar to humans save for immunity to certain diseases and radioactivity but are equipped with highly advanced technology and more scientifically advanced as well. Many details about where the Rikti came from and why they invaded would remain a mystery but the interstellar army seemed to have only two goals, world conquest and killing as many humans as possible.
