(TNG: "The First Duty") Categorie:ManenCategorie:Sol systeem de:Mimas en:Mimas
- Mimas is a moon of Saturn. It has the orbital period 0.9 earth days. It's orbit is 3% of the moons orbit.
- Mimas (ミマス) is a member of the USNA Stars.
- Mimas is a moon of Saturn.
- Mimas was originally the third version of the Galactic Empire's Death Star. After the death of Darth Vader the Empire abandoned it for the reason that the Empire can't have death star without Darth Vader. Later when the United States of America discovered that it was in fact a battle station instead of a moon they "borrowed" Mimas and continued the construction(all though the US denies these claims).
- To save up enough money to get back to Earth, Lister took to stealing hoppers and using them as taxis. It was during this time he first met Arnold Rimmer, who was pretending to be "Christopher Todhunter" and asking to be taken to a droid brothel. Lister later signed up with JMC ship Red Dwarf, when it stopped at Mimas, as a way of getting home and living out his plan, but it didn't go so well...
- Mimas (sometimes called Mimon) is the giant son of Gaea, born to oppose Hephaestus/Vulcan. Mimas was defeated in the First Giant War after Hephaestus dumped a volley of molten iron onto him.
(TNG: )
- Mimas is a tidally locked planet of Saturn. While being extremely hot, the dark side may often be cold.
- Mimas was a moon of Saturn. By 2368, the moon was home to emergency evacuation stations for the Academy Flight Range in the Saturnian system. After a flight training accident, Nova Squadron pilots activated their emergency transporters, which were programmed with pre-set coordinates for these stations. (TNG: "The First Duty" ) According to the Star Trek Encyclopedia (4th ed., vol. 2, p. 43) , of the major Saturnian moons, Mimas was the closest to the gas giant.
- Mimas is the satellite of Saturn. It housed a Terran Confederation colony. Although the colony was designed with children in mind, colonists seldom procreated during the first years of colonization, and academic zones were reclaimed for extra cargo space. The Colony was the target of the initial Mimist terrorist attack in 2613 where colonists such as Shamus Taggart and Bethlyn Taggart we're believed to have died (although they were apparently still alive by 2632)
- Mimas was A Gigantes who Aphrodite originally fought against. Mimas who according to Apollodorus was slain by Hephaistos when the god threw a volley of molten iron in the war against the gods. After that he was finished off by Herakles. There is some controvercy about whether Mimas and another Gigante Mimon (who was killed with the combined efforts of Ares and Herakles) Euripides suggests that it was a bolt of lightning from Zeus that killed Mimas by a bolt of lightning which leads to further contrivercy.
- Mimas' low density (1.17) indicates that it is composed mostly of water ice with only a small amount of rock. Due to the tidal forces acting on it, the moon is not perfectly spherical; its longest axis is about 10% longer than the shortest. Mimas' surface gravity is .008g or eight/one-thousands of that for Earth.
- Terraforming Mimas would be very difficult because of its proximity to Saturn, its low gravity, and its large distance from Earth. However, access to Saturn for gas mining could be made easier by establishing a base on Mimas. Since Mimas lacks a magnetosphere, any colonies or bases would need to be protected from Saturn's radition, though it is far weaker than Jupiter's. If possible, colonies could be built far under the frozen surface to protect those who lived there.
- Mimas was one of the Gigantes (giants) in Greek mythology. Mimas was defeated by Hercules in the Gigantomachy (war between the Olympians and the Gigantes) or by Hephaestus in alternate accounts. What Mimas means is unknown, but it may possibly mean "imitate" (derived from the same word for mimic).
