James Rolfe: Welcome back to the history of horror. It's Cinemassacre's "Monster Madness". We've made it to the 80's and the slasher genre is in full motion. "Friday the 13th" does everything that "Halloween" already did; the point-of-view shots, the young adults being the primary victims. It's basically the same format and people unfamiliar with the genre often confuse the two series. But one thing that "Friday the 13th" did was make its death scenes more memorable. That's Tom Savini's special effects again – the most famous being the arrow through Kevin Bacon.

Another thing; "Friday the 13th" made the camp setting a very popular setting for many, many slasher flicks. Paul (from "Friday the 13th: Part 2"): The girl who survived that night at Camp Blood, that… Friday the 13th. James: Out in the woods the killer could be behind any tree. The killer in the first film is not Jason Voorhees and he never wears the famous hockey mask until "Part 3". But about ten sequels later he's one of the most famous horror movie characters to date. Jason is badass and a lot of that is due to the stuntwork of Kane Hodder. Damn, Jason gets all fucked up! Jason has been to New York City, to Hell, outer space and he's fought Freddy Krueger… Ugh, Freddy Krueger; we'll get to him next.
