Doctor Phlox viewed the film with Porthos while the rest of the crew was in stasis as Enterprise crossed a trans-dimensional disturbance in the Delphic Expanse around New Year's Eve, 2154. (ENT: "Doctor's Orders") In the archival final draft script of "Doctor's Orders", this film wasn't specifically named and was simply referred to as "a film comedy", suggesting the precise movie was chosen at a late stage in the making of the episode. The Court Jester was a film directed by Melvin Frank and Norman Panama and distributed by Paramount Pictures in 1956. (Star Trek Encyclopedia (4th ed., vol. 1, p. 165) )
