The Elite Recon and Assault Division or ERAD is an elite commando unit utilized by the Sorran Military. It is a career choice for all who enter as there is a mandatory twenty year service length. The Training takes place over an eight month period and most applicants wash out halfway through the training. In a class of one hundred it is rare for more than forty to become ERAD commandos. The training itself teaches the trainees stealth tactics and improves upon their already great combat skills. They learn to lead an assault, recon an objective, infiltrate and asassinate or infiltrate and destroy, body guard and escort tactics, how to board an enemy vessel, and search and rescue missions. Considered a jack of all trades, it is rare for a commander to not call in an ERAD unit in large engagements or even small ones that may require their unique skills. Their weapons are the same as the rest of the Sorran military and is selected on what skills the commando has and what weapon he is best with. Their armor is more advanced than the basic MK II Combat armor. It has better energy resistant properties and bullets are almost ineffective against it. It is Vacumm sealed and has an air filter to filter out most poisons and toxins. The visor contains a HUD and a small computer built into the forearm of the suit is useful for many roles. There are almost 10,000 of these elite commandos in service.
