Wendy Nightingale was a graduate who came from the posh area of Bramhall, in nearby Stockport. She taught at the Community Centre - and fell for its romeo manager, Ken Barlow. Wendy walked out on her husband Roger in April 1976, after he was told she was seeing Ken by her 'friend' Sheila Flynn. Roger came round to No.11, punched Ken and took Wendy home, but she went to stay with another friend, Diana Kenton. However, within a few days she was living 'over the brush' at No.11 - until she found the attraction of living in a Weatherfield backstreet paled, and she went back to her husband and comfortable middle-class life.
