The "Awit ng Bansang Hinirang" (or Lupang Hinirang) was originally incidental music by Julian Felipe and supplied with lyrics from the poem "Filipinas" by Jose Palma. It was translated in English, then in Filipino during the terms of Manuel Quezon and Ramon Magsaysay respectively. On the other hand, the Salve Patria Tagalaskaya (also known as the Marangal na Dalit ng Katagalugan) is written by Julio Nakpil for the original Katagalugan government.
