abstract
  • Roman Lucca Florentine, largely known as 'Flo' in the party. Born in 3805 in Helston, in the Holy Luthori Empire, is a centrist politician. He is an LGBT rights campaigner and well known social liberal. He began he working life as a examinations marker for secondary school exams, but after 7 years he moved onto lecturing at Helston University covering a range of subjects from the workings of the Diet, to politics as a whole and the history of the LGBT rights movement. In 3837 after 15 years of lecturing he decided to found the Luthorian Progress Party with a close friend, Marriane Flicket, a well known animator and social campaigner. Founding the party a month before the General Election he knew and the senior leadership knew they wouldn't fair well or win any seats. He set out with the ideal of using the next parliamentary term as a way to build up mid-term apathy, as voters became dissatisfied with the government, and direct their apathy into voting for the Progress Party to give the Diet as he phrased it, 'a real good shake up'. He served the party for eight years and three General Elections. In the elections of 3837 and 3840 the party failed to enter parliament, however following the 3845 election the party 1.5% of the vote and three seats, the party had expected to do better, but the return of the Social Democratic League to the political playing field severely limited the party's growth. Following the disappointing results and failing to be elected to the Imperial Diet himself he resigned as party leader, the National Executive Committee appointed him as party president and he became the candidate for the elected monarch.
