- SUPR is a specialization in Battlefield 3. It increases the effect of Suppressive Fire on targeted players. It counters and is countered by the COVR specialization. This specialization is a good choice for the support class because it noticeably decreases the time for suppression to take effect. The specialization increases the suppression effect dealt by 50%. The solo specialization is unlocked at rank 17, while the squad variant, SQD SUPR, is awarded at rank 33.

- Anna could produce a metallic substance which would suppress abilities and supernatural traits in others. She could form weapons from the metal substance, which could inflict injuries that would not heal. Additionally, she could form cages from the substance which would be impossible to escape from. Anna could also produce the same metallic substance on her nails, which she used to stab her victims with. These injuries would heal as slowly as those inflicted by her weapons. Overexposure to the substance could turn a supernatural being human, as seen in the case of her half-brother, Kirk Malus. She was shown able to access this ability in spirit form after her death, when she possessed Kotone.
- Suppression is an effect that afflicts infantry while they're being fired at, mostly by anti-infantry weapons like Machine-Guns. A suppressed unit receives a lot of uncomfortable penalties to its movement speed and firing accuracy, reducing its combat effectiveness. Further fire from "suppressive" weapons can cause the unit to get "Pinned-Down", in which case it becomes almost totally immobile and worthless in combat. Several abilities can negate or reduce these effects, but a unit left suppressed in a battlefield for more than a few moments will surely get destroyed.
- Suppression can be used to fix enemies while nearby teammates go around the side flanking them. In terms of the Four Fs doctrine, this is the second "F" (Find, Fix, Flank, and Finish).
- Suppression is a mechanic that causes units to move 65% slower and greatly reduces reload speed for ranged weapons. There are only a few ways to break suppression, including, but not limited to retreating and using certain squad abilities(can be broken by Tactical Advance at the cost of speed (Tarkus' squad in Campaign)). Suppression can be caused from taking too much firepower whilst not in cover (mostly caused by Heavy Bolters (Avitus' squad in Campagin)), and other squad abilities(can be caused by Suppressing Fire(Cyrus' squad in Campaign)).
