Folk group whose Big Mama Thornton died of a drug overdose. It was believed she had died from choking on a ham sandwich found in her hand when her body was discovered, although autopsies found no evidence. Their California Dreamin' is about a desire to leave Greenwich Village, where the folk movement had started, and head to warmer climates in California. Their Creeque Alley (pronounced "creaky alley") mentions fellow folk musicians Barry Mcguire, Roger McGuinn of The Byrds, and The Lovin' Spoonful.
