Mrs. Young ran a bording house in Baltimore during the War of 1812. Lt. Patrick Driscol and Pvt. Anthony McParland stayed at Mrs. Young's home in the days before the British attack on Washington. When Doctor Jeremy Boulder found Driscol, he and McParland fled to Washington, telling Mrs. Young that she should re-let their rooms. Mrs. Young was quite timid, and took pains not to disturb the two men while they were guests.
