In the Dungeons & Dragons fantasy role-playing game, an athach is a giant-like aberration. It resembles something akin to an ogre, a troll, a fomorian or other such highly ugly giant, only with three arms. Two arms are located in the places where normal humanoids have their arms, while the third one sprouts from the chest. Athachs have sickly green coloration, and are covered in a layer of short, soft, brown fur. They have pear-shaped, flabby bodies, orc-like faces, black teeth, many warts and veins in their skin, and curly (if matted) hair and beards. Apparently, they are also poisonous.

  • The attach originally appeared in the Dungeons & Dragons Master Set. It was later ported over to AD&D in the Monstrous Compendium Mystara Appendix, and made appearances in Dungeons & Dragons (third edition) and Dungeons & Dragons (3.5).
  • Athach are violent and brutal but not often very bright and often attack their victims via a wild charge, they can be solitary or live in small tribes of up to 12 individuals and are frighteningly strong: capable of killing an unprotected human in seconds. Athach often wear primitive armor made from slain farm animals and are a savage race that exist in the wild, if they can not reach a victim they are also known to throw rocks at them - showing some basic form of intelligence (despite their otherwise animalistic attributes).
