In the UK a woman was injured because a letter bomb slipped through into one of their postal service facilities and exploded. This is raising fears and questions around the UK regarding an imminent possible terror attack. In the UK a woman was injured because a letter bomb slipped through into one of their postal service facilities and exploded. This is raising fears and questions around the UK regarding an imminent possible terror attack. A female worker was injured when a letter bomb exploded in the postroom of an office bloc in central London Monday, initially raising fears about a possible terrorist attack. The woman, who suffered minor injuries, was an employee of the Capita Group, a leading out-sourcing company which, among other services, runs London’s congestion charge system. The charge of eight pounds (15.6 dollars) a day is due to be extended on February 19 to cover the affluent shopping and residential district of Kensington and Chelsea. The move has attracted protests from local residents. The building which houses Capita is about 100 metres away from the headquarters of New Scotland Yard in Victoria Street, central London. Security at the tall, glass-fronted building has been greatly reinforced since the terrorist attacks on the transport network on July 7, 2005. (emphasis mine) A Scotland Yard spokesman said its counter-terrorism unit was leading the inquiry ‘as a matter or procedure for an incident involving an explosion of this nature.’ All six floors of the office building were evacuated as police temporarily cordoned off Victoria Street, a main thoroughfare running from Victoria Station down to Westminster Abbey and the Houses of Parliament. I emphasized the above simply because it is worthy to note that security has been increased and reinforced since the 7/7 attack. However, it dispels the false notion that security around the UK is fool proof. Obviously somehow, someone, was able to infiltrate the security set in place and slip this letter bomb right into the heart of the postal service. If not by person – then obviously via their mail system where it went undetected.
