Synopsis
  • Two workers, Phil and Moze, are having breakfast at Sadie's Diner and talking about Superman. Phil does not believe Superman is really an alien with superpowers, instead he is a distraction from the government to keep people ignorant from real issues. As they leave, Phil comes across his neighbor, Clark. Phil tells Moze that the world would be a better place if people were more like Clark.
  • Jonathan and Martha Kent found a boy in an spaceship. That boy became Superman. Superman finds himself fighting Brainiac, who intends to shrink the sun using the Hubble telescope. To stop Brainiac's plan, Superman uses his heat vision to reverse the power of Brainiac's technology, shrinking Brainiac instead. Superman leaves Brainiac stranded in a comet. Clark goes to Martha's house to repair the clothes line. Martha hoped he could stay for supper, but Clark is busy. Clark goes to the Daily Planet to continue his journalistic work and Kent tells him to write a story about a judge possibly working for the mob. When Perry notices Lois' abscence, Clark realizes she is in danger. Lois was trying to save Sally Berkoff, a kidnapped girl, but the thugs put them in a water pit to drown. Fortunately, Superman saves them and takes the criminals down. After dropping Lois off at work, Superman takes the girl to her parents. Superman spends the day saving the world from various dangers. He also goes to the Fortress of Solitude to watch over Krypto. Superman still feels guilty for not being able to return the city of Kandor to its normal size. Later at night, Clark, still in his Superman outfit, and Krypto go to Martha's house to eat supper with her.
  • As Lex writes on his personal journal about his latest idea to kill Superman, he remembers how he spent his day. During the morning, Lex buys out Mr. Andrige's company, saying that he will reveal everything he has done to the authorities if he does not comply. Meanwhile, Superman is fighting an android Lex created. Lex also met with some government officials he blackmailed. He provides the government with technology to improve the economy and their safety inspectors turn a blind eye to his extralegal activities. Then, he fire some of his scientists even though he has never personally met them. Later, Lex finishes building a laser that could cut the moon in half. His assistant, Michelle, is concerned that Luthor is building weapons instead of making things that could benefit mankind. Lex considers hiring a new assistant. Then, Lex has a meeting with some world leaders, including Grodd, who is upset that Lex is raising the price about a weapons package he sold him earlier. Lex replies that the first weapon package he sold him contains a failsafe mechanism program to detonate any time he wants. Grodd has no choice but to pay Lex's price. Lex also has a date with an actress at the opera, but he is uninterested and leaves. Meanwhile, Superman has defeated the robot. Lex spends some time at his office after hours when Superman confronts him with his robot's remains. Superman knows Luthor built the robot but he can't prove it, so he leaves, but not before burning Luthor's journal. Lex goes to his safe, retrieve a new journal and begins to write about his new idea to kill Superman.
Notes
  • * The story is on an Earth that appears in large part to be similar to Earth-One. However, the presence of Martha Kent alongside an adult Superman rules out the possibility of "Savior" being set in that universe.
