- Maximilion Alanzo Ernesto "Max" Russo is a former wizard & the youngest of the Russo trio. He is currently in his last year at Tribeca Prep & is working to become the owner of the family sub shop. Although no longer a wizard, Max still has access to the wizard world & frequently assists his brother in teaching his class. He also often joins Justin & the mutants on their missions & adventures. Later in the series, Max develops a relationship with Fern, although it becomes kind of a problem due to Max now being a mortal.

In the series's finale, Alex became the Russo Family Wizard and Justin a full wizard due to becoming the Headmaster of Wiz Tech. As compensation for the only sibling to become mortal, Max obtains the Sub Station which he seems very happy about.

- Maximillian "Max" Justin Russo is a fictional character on the Disney Channel sitcom Wizards of Waverly Place, portrayed by Jake T. Austin. The youngest of the three Russo siblings, he is the naïve younger brother, who at the beginning of the series is an underachiever (when it comes to wizard school), being far behind his siblings in his magic lessons (as seen in "Potion Commotion"). Even though his full name, Maximillian, is stated by his grandma, he mentions his name is Maximum in Wizards of Waverly Place: The Movie. In a cut scene from "Helping Hand" it is revealed that Max's middle name is Justin, but they didn't tell him to keep him from getting confused.

They live in Waverly Place, just above Waverly Substation where all three kids work. Max is known to play soccer, since Justin practiced kissing his soccer ball. He also likes to make sandwiches (useful). He even made a sandwich called To The Max. He also apperantly likes Nintendo, as he is seen with a Nintendo DS.
