Albert V (1397 - 1439) was the King of Germany from 1438 until 1439, King of Hungary and Bohemia from 1438 until 1439, and Archduke of Austria from 1404 until 1439. Albert was the son of Archduke Albert IV of the House of Habsburg. He succeeded his father in Austria in 1404, aged seven. Albert was well educated, and he took the governance of Austria in 1411. With the aid of the nobility, Albert succeeded in ridding Austria of the problems which had arisen during his minority. He assisted the Holy Roman Emperor Sigismund of Luxembourg in his campaigns against the Bohemian Hussites. In 1422 he married Sigismund's daughter and heiress Elizabeth.
