abstract
| - On 17 January 2009 Rovers travelled to London to face Leyton Orient in a League One match at the Matchroom Stadium. It was the first game played by Rovers in twenty days, following a series of postponements. It was their twenty-fourth league game of the season, and their second against Orient. First team coach Paul Trollope named an unchanged starting eleven from the previous game, and made two changes on the bench – David Pipe and Richard Langley replaced Mike Green and Ben Hunt. After a goalless first half, Orient took the lead twelve minutes into the second period through Adam Boyd, but goals from Jeff Hughes and Darryl Duffy gave Rovers a 2–1 win over Orient for the second time this season. Duffy's goal was his first since August, ending a sixteen-game run without finding the back of the net. Following the defeat, Orient manager Martin Ling and his assistant Dean Smith parted company with the club by mutual consent.
