| - "Green Bus Lines, Incorporated" was a bus company in New York City, United States, operating local service in Queens and express service to Manhattan until January 9, 2006, when the MTA Bus Company took over its routes. The company was incorporated on April 3, 1925 by a group of bus operators under the leadership of John Succa in Manhattan to coordinate some jitney operations, as well as some feeder service in the outer boroughs serving rapid transit terminals. It began operating routes in Manhattan in 1933, then discontinued them in 1936, turning over its franchises to New York City Omnibus Co. and Comprehensive Omnibus Corporation in exchange for franchises in Queens. The company also acqured several previously-operating Queens bus companies: Liberty Bus Transportation, Bilow Bus Line, Richmond Hill Bus Line, S&F Transportation, Argus Line Transportation Corporation, Long Island Coach Company, General Omnibus Corporation, Midland Coach Corporation, and Courier Bus Company. In 1943, Green Bus Lines took over the Manhattan & Queens Bus Corporation, which had operated the ex-Manhattan and Queens Traction Company Q60 Queens Boulevard Line since 1937, providing a link over the Queensboro Bridge into Manhattan. It continued operating those franchises until January 9, 2006, when its routes were taken over by the MTA Bus Company (a subsidiary of the Metropolitan Transportation Authority). Green stockholders acquired several other companies that continued to operate independently: Command Bus Company, Triboro Coach Corporation, and Jamaica Buses. The current QM23 was started in the 1950s to replace Long Island Rail Road service. Four more express routes began operation in the 1970s.
