The Thousand Cities was a fertile region where 'crops were always bountiful' between the Tib and Tub rivers in southern Makuran. As the soil was so fertile, there were many cities and towns in the region henceforth the name. Also, due to its fertility it was very valuable to Makuran and heavily guarded from the Empire of Videssos, whose border was just a few mile west of the region.

  • The Thousand Cities was a fertile region where 'crops were always bountiful' between the Tib and Tub rivers in southern Makuran. As the soil was so fertile, there were many cities and towns in the region henceforth the name. Also, due to its fertility it was very valuable to Makuran and heavily guarded from the Empire of Videssos, whose border was just a few mile west of the region. The Thousand Cities was not originally part of Makuran because it was conquered long before the days of Peroz King of Kings and the people were not ethnic Makuraners. Therefore, the region was an important part of Makuran but not really of it, making the King of Kings worried about the region's allegiance in times of war. It was, however, considered Makuran's economic heartland and the capital was located in the region.
