abstract	Federation Air Forces Station Maputo is a Federation Air Forces base under construction 33 km (20 mi) north of Maputo, Southern African Confederacy. It is scheduled to be open by the end of the year. The base is located approximately 200 km southwest of the Two Kilo Buffer, the heavily militarized border area between Southern Africa and the Hurian Federation. When completed, the base will be home to the Air Forces Combat Command's 23rd Air Force, relocated from FAF Station Mombasa in Huria. Until the air base is completed, elements of the 23rd Air Force are being stationed at Maputo International Airport, to the south. FAF Station Maputo is being constructed as a part of a larger East Asia-financed modernization project to transform the city of Maputo into a world-class city. The project will include center city revitalization, a new special trade district for industry, modern, energy-efficient residences, and regional infrastructure upgrades. The total cost of airbase construction is expected to reach $2 billion USD.
