- Shroobs are a species of Mushroom-like aliens. They kind of look like Toads, both being humanoid Mushrooms, apart from Shroobs being purple, having claws, and having a chubby body. They are ruled by Princess Shroob.
- The Shroobs are a race of purple Toad-like aliens from the Shroob Planet, which was ruled by Princess Shroob and her older sister. In search for another planet to inhabit, they located and invaded in the Mushroom Kingdom when Mario and Luigi were mere infants. They are extremely violent oppose to the more benevolent Toads, causing large scale destruction on most of the major locations on the Mario Bros planet before raiding it and harvesting Toads and other creatures to convert their lifeforce into energy. Despite these aggressive behaviors, they proven to be highly intelligent, building and utilizing highly advanced technology and complex projects.
- Shroobs are one of the main enemies in the game Mario & Luigi: Partners in Time and an optional enemy in Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story. They plan to destroy everything in the past Mushroom World and make it their new home. So Mario, Luigi, and a whole cast of other Mario characters plan to stop them. Their leader is Princess Shroob.

Unlike the similar yet much more benevolent Toads, who are seemingly more human than mushroom, Shroobs seem to have retained most of their fungus ancestry.
