- Galarian Steiner, more commonly known as Garan, is a character from the Manga Saint Seiya Episode G. A training partner and close friend of Sagittarius Aiolos, he was originally believed to eventually become the Leo Saint of the 20th Century. However, one day his mother suddenly feel gravely ill to an incurable disease. Fearing for her life, he actively impulsively and stole a treasure from the Sanctuary: A cup of Athena's Ikhor, containing great Cosmos and miraculous power. Unfortunately, it was too late, and she perished before he could give her the Sacred Blood. Captured and exiled by the Sanctuary, he was condemned to a death sentence. Calm, Garan asked to be executed in Gladiatorial Combat against an opponent of his choice, namely, Sagittarius Aiolos. The Sanctuary's forces agreed, and in one evenly the two battled. Garan had little chance against his friend and was easily crushed in combat. However, The Saint did not want to harm his friend, and so held back during the whole battle. When it was done, Steiner remained without an eye and an arm, but with his life intact. Garan's life was spared, and since them he has been a servant of the Sanctuary, more specifically of the Leo Saint Aiolia, acting both as a negotiator and caretaker.
