Miguel Juan Sebastián Piñera Echenique (born December 1, 1949) is a chilean economist, private businessman and politician who served as President of Chile from 2010 until 2014. He was elected on February 10, 2010 in a runoff and was inaugurated on April 10, 2010 in Santiago. He became the first billionaire elected President in a South American country in history and the first Christian Democrat elected to the Presidency of Chile since Patricio Aylwin in 1990. During his presidency, his goals were foreign engagement, education reform (likely brought on by protests in 2011 by students) and increased dialogue between labor unions and management.
