The B2 chainsaw super battle droid, more commonly known as chainsaw droids, were a modification of the basic Confederate super battle droids used by the Trade Federation and the Confederacy of Independent Systems. Chainsaw droids were created specially by Baktoid Combat Automata, the main droid manufacturer of the Confederacy, for use in cutting through some substances more efficiently than with a laser. Thus, they were equipped with two chainsaws that could also be used to attack enemies.

Chainsaw droids were created specially by Baktoid Combat Automata, the main droid manufacturer of the Confederacy, for use in cutting through some substances more efficiently than with a laser. Thus, they were equipped with two chainsaws that could also be used to attack enemies. Snow droids won and lost many battles during the Clone Wars, notably the Battle of Geonosis and the Battle of Simocadia. After use on Geonosis, Baktoid began not only creating many of the chainsaw droids, but another variant, the B2 buzzsaw super battle droid, which was equipped with a similar weapon, the buzzsaw.
