Seyd Ali Seyyed (April 10, 1896-July 2, 1957) was a Turkish general and politician and one of Turkey's most influential 20th century statesmen. He was a general in the Turkish Army during the French Civil War and earned accolades for his brave conduct in the German campaigns and was the military governor of the Turkish occupied territories of Denmark from 1942 to 1946. In 1949, he was elected Grand Vizier and helped prepare Turkey for what he considered an inevitable war with France. He was assassinated by Armenian separatists aligned with the French on July 2, 1957 during the early months of the Black Sea War.
