Sauronoth are only a problem when in large numbers, which is usually around summer, as they are migratory animals. This is because they are a cause of minor deforestation, knocking down trees to clear pathways to other destinations or to feed on a tree's branches. However, migratory behavior has only been observed in large herds. Smaller herds are often composed of 2 adults that care for a single calf.

However, migratory behavior has only been observed in large herds. Smaller herds are often composed of 2 adults that care for a single calf. Sauronoth adults have few predators; their size alone is enough to make most carnivores avoid them. They seem to have a symbiotic relationship with the Jaraku, which will occasionally feed on parasitic insects that use the Sauronoth as their host.
