While experiencing the life of Kamin, Jean-Luc Picard expressed his regrets about being a poor husband to Eline, using this as one example of how he believed he had failed. (TNG: "The Inner Light" ) While Odo offered his skills as an investigator into the disappearance of twenty-two villagers in Rurigan's colony, he expressed his surprise that no one ever bothered to check the countryside. This of course was before he realized that village and the colonists were all actually holograms made of omicron particles. (DS9: "Shadowplay") While a hologram of Leonardo da Vinci traversed a planet in the Delta Quadrant with the aid of The Doctor's mobile emitter, he thought that he was in America, and he described the countryside of this "New World" as being "alive and full of creatures strange and wonderful." (VOY: "Concerning Flight") While in a holographic environment created by the Hirogen, the bar Le Coeur de Lion, Katrine told Mademoiselle de Neuf to take a little trip to the countryside to visit Monsieur Goulot to buy a high-frequency oscillator. (VOY: "The Killing Game")

Once Marvin and Wendy went bike riding in the countryside in Cave County and followed what they thought were giant chicken tracks (which turned out to be the tracks of a mobile tree) and that's how they are led to Bottomless Cave.
