Jigoku's Eye, in the far southwest corner of the Peasant District, was a series of forges used specifically for the disposal of unneeded materials from the Second City, which is always attended. The only things not burned there were corpses and wastes. The large stone structure had several “forges” connected together in a circle with their backs open, creating a large furnace. The peasants began to spread the superstition that the day Jigoku's Eye closed would be the day total darkness would descend on the Colonies.
