Animated sequences were to be produced to illustrate fables and myths from around the world that were used to teach the amphibian students about life outside the swamp. Lisa Henson was attached as executive producer on the original order of 26 half-hour episodes (budgeted at between $350,000 and $400,000 per episode). Jim Henson's Frog School never came to be, but the idea of an adolescent Kermit and friends was explored in Kermit's Swamp Years.
